      Seminar Series: "French Politics: A Neighbour's 'History of the Present'"

      "French Politics: A Neighbour's 'History of the Present'" is a monthly seminar series organised by the University of Westminster (Centre for the Study of Democracy & Institute for Modern and Contemporary Culture), introducing the "crème de la crème" of the French research in social sciences and humanities.  This series is designed with the Foucauldian notion of “history of the present” in mind and will tackle some of the most pressing challenges of French politics and political theory today. Introduced by Eric Fassin (26 September 2019), this seminar series will develop into three cycles: 1. An Authoritarian Spiral in France? - Sophie Wahnich (10 October 2019) "Democracy Taken in Vice: Understanding the 'Yellow Vests' Event" - Ninon Grangé (14 November 2019), title to come  - Fabien Jobard (Wed. 4 December 2019) "Liberal, Authoritarian, or Police State?
